707 17TH STREET

The 707 17th Street Office Building was designed and constructed in the early 1980’s and the lobby quickly became the least favorite of downtown Denver office tenants.  The original design used black granite exclusively for floors and walls and lighting was dim and oppressive.  Two decades later, a new Owner presented the design team with the challenge of making cost effective changes to enliven the space and make it more appealing to prospective office tenants.  Light colored granite flooring was installed over the existing floor and feature bands of new granite were added to the walls. A new curved ceiling system with indirect lighting provided general illumination and integral down lights highlight the floor and seating areas.  The resulting design transformed the space and the completed project was accomplished at a reasonable cost.
